During Hope Gardens, Cherise and I compiled a list on what we believe are the 12 steps to a “surefire relationship” (as Cherise puts it). Since we believe that certain people should recognize these steps and learn how to prevent 6-12 from happening, we decided to make this guide available to you! ENJOY. btw, this is probably only applicable to church kids, more specifically, fcbc kids.
DISCLAIMER: WE ARE NOT TARGETING SPECIFIC PEOPLE. I REPEAT, WE ARE NOT TARGETING SPECIFIC PEOPLE.
1)friending the person on facebook - the first step to any good relationship. (if he/she doesn’t have facebook, chances are, he/she also doesn’t have a tumblr and won’t be reading this!)
2)waving in the hallways - oh hello there. aka we’re not close enough to have a conversation, but I feel rude if I don’t acknowledge your presence.
3)occasional (awkward) conversation -
“Hey, you’re online!”
“Oh, yeah I am!”
-AWKWARD PAUSE-
-10 MINUTES LATER-
“So…how was your week?”
“Terrible.”
“Oh….that’s terrible.”
4)more occasional (less awkward) conversation -
“Oh, hey!”
“Oh hey, what’s up!”
“Nothing much, just chilling.”
“Oh, you’re cool. HAHA GET IT?!”
“…..”
5)waiting for other person to sign on/late night conversation - often accompanied by the excuse: “oh, but i’m not tired, anyways”…STOP DELUDING YOURSELF.
6)whispering/giggling during the sermon - tsk tsk.
7)blatantly disregarding BIBLE DISTANCE - I DON’T SEE THE HOLY SPIRIT BETWEEN YOU.
8)matching profile pictures - oh my, it’s getting serious.
9)excessive texting/good morning/good night texts - ex. using all 200 of your texts on one person/checking your phone every 2 seconds.
10)exchanging random gifts (like bracelets) - ex. personalized gifts, clothing.
excluding birthdays, christmas, or other holidays/special occasions requiring gifts.
11)going to dances together - “oh no, we’re just going as friends.” THAT’S WHAT YOU THINK.
12)changing your relationship status on facebook - it’s never official until it’s facebook official.
